Sungya gallery and trading products are 100% handmade. They are all woven by myself, mother, father, siblings, uncles etc. all from one big family.
My father James Akalogre and his brother John Abotibazaa were the first to ever receive awards for unique and beautifully weaved design baskets in the whole of Upper East Region. For this reason, they were taken to other villages to train people on how to weave double weaving baskets with unique designs and shapes. My village called Gambibco is very popular in the Region because it is noted for the best quality straw products till now.
Find Sungya Gallery every first and third Saturday of the month at the Department of Parks and Gardens close to the office area. From the entrance, just keep walking straight till the end!
